Dani’s first babysitting night

Dani — a 15-year-old babysitting a four-year-old neighbor for the first time

The idea in play: reading a small child’s cues and choosing the move that brings them back.

Forty minutes in, the four-year-old’s block tower falls. He screams, kicks the blocks, and runs behind the couch.

Dani’s first instinct is to fix it — rebuild the tower, fast.

But the child is not ready for a tower. He is not ready for anything yet.
