Three moves to remember
When they’re bouncing: give them something to push against, or two choices. When they pull away: join them quietly where they are. When they’re overwhelmed: get low, go slow, soft voice — calm first, questions later. In an emergency, call the parents first — or 911 if someone is hurt or in danger.
🖨️ Print the family card If you are ever looking after a child and something feels unsafe, call the parents or 911 in an emergency. For yourself, support is one message away, any time:
More ways to get help Each service is free and confidential. You do not have to be in danger to reach out — feeling overwhelmed is enough. If you are in danger right now, a grown-up near you can call 911. Talking to a trusted grown-up — a parent, a teacher, a school counselor — is always a good first step.
