Bounce a ball

Eleven still pictures. Shape the fall, then press play.

The people behind the bounce

In The Illusion of Life (1981), the Disney animators Ollie Johnston and Frank Thomas wrote down twelve principles of animation. One is squash and stretch: a ball squashes when it hits the floor and stretches as it falls and after it bounces. In a realistic bounce it never gets bigger or smaller overall.
