PerchTots' map friends each embody one move of MAP READING - the crew IS the idea (audio-first for ages 3-5). Perch sits up high and looks down, so the whole room fits in one picture - that is a map. Spotty finds the matching spot: the bed on the map is the bed in the room. Placy puts each thing where it belongs on the map. Mentor Sky, the hawk, keeps the whole idea: from above, the map IS the room seen from the top, and the same spot on the map is the same spot in the room. Matching a map to the real room is the first step in map reading. No camera, ever.
